Abut Lauren,

Hi! My name is Lauren McBride. I am a 24-year-old psychologist and I run a mental health advocacy Instagram page called @herthoughtsandbrightcolours. I host the podcast “Let’s Chat ADHD” with ADHD Ireland and I’m so grateful to be a volunteer for such an amazing cause. Raising awareness about ADHD and also mental health is very important to me, so however I can, I’m there to help create an understanding of neurodivergent life as we know it. I’m also a total people person, and a huge dog lover too!

20th of March 7-9pm

Adults

Topic: The Lived Experience Of Women With ADHD (research results)

More info and registration HERE

This presentation is based on her Major Research Project, completed with IADT college Dun Laoghaire, with supervisor Marian McDonnell.

This Major Research Project examines the personal experiences, thoughts, and feelings of women with ADHD. The forum r/ADHD women, on Reddit.com, was used to look into anonymous accounts of women with ADHD. The women took to reddit to search for peer support, to ask questions, and to raise awareness about common issues as women, with ADHD.

Topics such as Emotional Dysregulation, Hormonal Issues, Grieving Post-Diagnosis, Gender Roles, and other common experiences are explored within this study. This study has focused on important discussion about the experiences of women, pertaining to ADHD, that are many times under studied, or less recognised in society as a whole.
