Both psychologists and psychiatrists can diagnose and treat ADHD, but only psychiatrists can prescribe medication. Please click here to read our full article on the difference between psychologists and psychiatrists.

If you receive an ADHD diagnosis from a psychologist and wish to take medication, you will have to be re-diagnosed by a psychiatrist. You will not be able to use your psychologist report to acquire medication.
