Research – Development of a Childhood Sleep Scale by Maynooth University
We have partnered up with the Department of Psychology, Maynooth University to support Upasana Bondopadhyay, a doctoral student to create a finding on a sleeping scale topic. The results will help gain insight into the specific types of sleep problems that occur with ADHD and without to help equip doctors, psychologists and other clinical professionals with a straightforward way to include an assessment of sleep during consultations.
Purpose of the Study:
I am Upasana Bondopadhyay, a doctoral student, in the Department of Psychology, Maynooth University. I am undertaking a research study under the supervision of Professor Andrew Coogan, Department of Psychology, Maynooth University. The aim of this research is to develop a new questionnaire for reporting sleep problems in primary school-age children with and without diagnosed ADHD. This tool will benefit a broad range of professionals and support them with vital information including sleep issues while processing consultation. As such we are seeking parents of children to participate in this research by completing a series of questionnaires.
Who is this research for?
This research is for parents of ADHD children and who do not have ADHD / 6-12 years old.
What will the study involve?
For your participation, you are requested to read and fill out an information and consent sheet, following which you will complete an online custom-made questionnaire which will take approximately 20 minutes. This questionnaire will include items regarding your child’s sleep and the impacts of any sleep problems, as well as questions about your child’s cognition (eg. attention, emotions) and some general questions about your child. After two weeks you will be requested to complete one specific set of questions again from the previous questionnaire to help us examine if the questions yield consistent results when completed more than once within a time interval. To thank you for your participation, after you have completed the questionnaire the second time after two weeks, we will present to you a 10 Euros One4all gift card.
